KidsZone is an Expo favorite and very popular with parents and children alike! Children enjoy various activities and guest speakers while parents attend the Homeschool Expo or Homeschooling for Excellence 101. Guest speakers may include animal shows, science shows, robot building, LEGO building, and much more! While parents attend Homeschooling For Excellence 101, their children can attend a variety of workshops given by speakers who will challenge them to become active and excited learners. Our goal is to remind children that learning is rewarding and interesting and that learning can happen anywhere, at anytime.

9:45 AM – 11:00 AM	Explore Architecture and Engineering while creating cities After receiving training from master Lego Builders, Matt and James, student build teamwork skills and learn about systems and how they applies to cities development. Students also receive instruction on developing and perfecting their building skills.
11:00 AM – 11:45 AM	Explore Architecture and Engineering Continued
11:45 AM – 12:00 PM	Break Time – Bathroom and Clean Up
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM	Lunch – Children should be picked up for lunch.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM	Big Screen Learning – Complete a Facts Treasure Hunt and Create an art project after viewing the film “Most Amazing Moments” by National Geographic
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM	Get Up and Move! – After perfecting the beat with Lummi Sticks, everyone dissolves in fits of laughter as they learn easy square dance moves. A mini hoe down follows. “Everyone Alamande Left!”
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM	Board Games – teach social skills!  Learn patience, honesty, the value of takings turns, how be a good sport and get along with others – all while playing and having fun!  Each game is appropriate to the age of the player.  This fun session is always a favorite among the kids!

9:45 AM – 11:00 AM	Developing the City - Master Lego Builders, Matt and James guide students to learn concentration, focus and attention to detail, as they review and improve on building projects. Satisfaction builds as cities are improved and perfected.
11:00 AM – 11:45 AM	Diorama’s the Dinah Zike Way. After listening to the Story of Ping, kids use Dinah Zike’s fabulous diorama invention to create an amazing table of the story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFIGlz4TGLA

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM	Fun With Paper – Paper Airplanes, Paper Hats, Cootie Catchers, Artistic Envelopes and more!. Get rid of the “I’m bored and have nothing to do.” Talents your kids will be sure to use again and again to amuse themselves and amaze their friends.
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM	Coach Mike – Good Ball Handling Skills Improve Learning Skills Carefully designed activites create success as students learn to attend to lots of simultaneous information while playing. Working alone and together, kids succeed as they learn a variety of fun and useful ball handling maneuvers.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM	Special Guest Entertainer - Award-winning Author, Jenny L. Cote – CREATEOpening with the popular “Black Coat Story,” Jenny humorously illustrates a really lame story, followed by a really colorful story. She explains how creative writing is like painting a picture in your mind and writing what you see. Animating animal figurines, Jenny brings colorful characters to life, and describes the importance and, yes, FUN of doing research! Learn how to weave in surprises, action, tension, and then end well.

9:45 AM – 11:00 AM	Beautifying Cities through Architecture and Green Space. Appreciate the efforts of those who make our cities and towns more beautiful. Make beautiful buildings and outdoor art, and learn to set green and blue spaces for neighborhood families to enjoy.

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM	Special Guest Entertainer - Award-winning Author, Jenny L. Cote – DREAM“Pharaoh Cote” makes a grand costumed entrance and engages the students on the subject of dreams. She’ll be joined by costumed Joseph volunteers who act out the different stages in the life of Joseph for a vibrant discussion on the evolving arc of a character, complete with dynamite dialogue, reality checks for writing historical fiction, and how to use artistic license.
